Dilthedog has just noticed a typo in your post:

directory ‘/ect/mysql/mariadb.conf.d’ does not exist

I think the command you want is this:

@Kyblik

sudo nano /etc/mysql/mariadb.conf.d/50-server.cnf

its not ect its etc.
