Can't delete files from Windows 7

I have always been able to delete files from my HDDs attached to my Vero 4k+ via windows explorer in Windows 7 but I can no longer do this. I right click and select delete, after a number of seconds the nag comes up asking if I really want to delete the file, I select yes, the file disappears from the list but if I refresh it comes back. I have tried this with a .txt file and it deleted, but movies will not. I have the same problem trying to rename files, windows explorer hangs and I have to restart it.

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

I have discovered why this happens, I have 2 files with almost the same name in a folder, one has an additional space on the end of the filename, this makes both files and the containing folder un-deleteable. Solution? re-name one of them. I have since discovered that the files are un-renameable also, I thought I re-named them last time it occured.
