Hi,
I have just purchased Dune 1 and Dune 2 and have added them to my library. Unfortunately, the artwork for the Collection and the individual titles does not display at all.
I have managed to capture this with debug logs here.
I can see errors in the logs, but don’t know what they mean… does someone know what’s going on?
This is an example for the collection:
2025-05-28 18:58:59.579 T:2979 error <general>: ffmpeg[0xb2d7ee80]: [mjpeg] dqt: invalid precision

2025-05-28 18:58:59.622 T:2854 debug <general>: [Warning] CGUITextureManager::GetTexturePath: could not find texture 'DefaultMovie.png'
And for an individual title:
2025-05-28 18:59:12.656 T:2977 error <general>: ffmpeg[0xb2dcc9d8]: [mjpeg] mjpeg: unsupported coding type (c7)

I have tried removing all thumbnail data by deleting the folder .kodi/userdata/Thumbnails and getting the Vero4K+ to re-cache the artwork, but that didn’t help.
For what it’s worth, I downloaded the artwork from https://www.themoviedb.org/.
Thanks
Is there any way you can give us a direct link to these ‘poster.jpeg’ files?
Please don’t upload here, because the forum might scale / modify it.
It’s probably also worth noting that the poster and fanart are no longer displaying for my MCU Collection. This was an existing library item, and it doesn’t seem to have been able to display this since I tried removing all thumbnail data by deleting the folder .kodi/userdata/Thumbnails
and getting the Vero4K+ to re-cache the artwork.
It’s probably also worth noting we have been moving and so the Vero 4K+ hasn’t been used this year. So, I was prompted to and installed the latest update before trying all this - i.e. trying to add Dune 1 and 2 to the library and all the subsequent attempts to recache artwork.
The MCU Collection artwork had definitely all worked prior to all this.
Hi Sam,
Just wondering whether you’d had a chance to look at this at all?
Thanks
Hi
I’ve had a chance now. Sorry for the delays here.
If you download these photos on to the Vero, can you display them correctly?
That’s a really good suggestion. I’ll have a crack at that when I get home tonight.
Appreciate you looking into it and no worries about the delay
Cheers. Let me know how it goes.
I am travelling from tomorrow but will keep an eye on things.
Sam

Thanks! I’ve given it a go, and the photos do not display at all after downloading them to the Vero.
I had debug logging on when I was trying to view them.

The error message for the MCU Collection poster doesn’t seem to be too helpful to my eyes:

Do these or anything else in the logs mean anything to you?
The odd thing in my eyes is that the MCU Collection Poster had worked completely fine previously and I haven’t changed or updated that image…
This would suggest a potentially corrupt image.
Or something that ffmpeg is not understanding at all.
Just to clarify: opening this photo in Kodi doesn’t work for you: https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/lxIGYkpvYjLtYtZH684AQft0FhD.jpg.
The reason I ask again is I can’t directly check yet as I am travelling
Sam
By any chance did you manually download these images with Google chrome? The reason I ask is that Chrome now tends to want to convert jpgs into webp files when you context menu and tell it to save. If this is the case you could instead of opening the image and telling it to save, instead context menu the link you were clicking on to open the image and tell it to “save link as” which will normally grab the original file untouched.

Yes I did! And I do remember it wanting to use a file extension of webp - which I found really odd! Even though I overwrote this with jpg it might have corrupted the image somehow.
I’ll give what you’ve suggested a go and report back - won’t be until Thursday as I’m away until then.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Changing the file extension when saving a file doesn’t make chrome change the format. It sounds like you for sure have a webp image that is named incorrectly with a .jpg extension.

This fixed it

Thanks @darwindesign and @sam_nazarko for responding and helping. Sorry to have bothered you with something that should have been obvious to me.
