Cant play movies of external Hard drive

Hi guys

I am running Pi3 with OSMC media player (NOOBS_v1_9_2) and I can see the movie/music files on my external drive but when I play movies it fails to read or system just says working…

Everything work fine if I watch the same movies off my flash drive

This happens when the HD auto-mounts and also if I mount it manually - I have checked the permissions

My external is a 2Tb standard 2.5" SATA drive and uses NTFS
The Flash drive is EXFAT –

Do you think getting a USB hub to help power my external drive would make any difference?

Sorry I am very new to this, I started debug and attempted to launch some movies that did not work

Lots of this seems to indicate the drive is not being powered sufficiently. You should definitely try using a powered hub.

I used to have the same problem earlier so I brought a new USB powered hub which resolved the problem.
USB powered hub also allows you to seamlessly connect many USB devices depending on the number of ports available on the device.

Confirmed, USB hub sorted all my issues. Thank you
