Can't set up PVR on OSMC

In contrast to what I read on

after installing TVHeadend Server on OSMC, I cannot login using myIP:9981 with either osmc & osmc as the username and password, nor as osmc and using the password that gets me into my Vero V via ssh.

So what do I do now?

Mmmhh, I just installed tvheadend sever via My OSMC → App Store on a Vero 4k+ and I could immediately login to the web page using osmc/osmc. I hope you mean the web page which makes the issue at your site.

What ever happened, I suggest to login via ssh as osmc user and do

  1. sudo systemctl stop tvheadend
  2. sudo mv /home/osmc/.hts/ /home/osmc/.hts.old
  3. sudo systemctl start tvheadend

which gives you a virgin tvheadend configuration.

Just checking: ‘myIP’ should be the IP of the vero. Same as you use for ssh.

But of course it is; what else would I use?

After I executed those three steps, it logged me on without asking for a name/PW and started the setup wizard. That went fine until I got to “Now let’s get your tuners configured.”, where it won’t let me change the default “IPTV” in the Tuner box and the Network type box has only one option “IPTV Automatic Network”.

FYI, I have a Sony STR-DN1080 receiver with an antenna attached, which is on the same 192.168.1.x network, and that’s what I’d like to use. Further suggestions?

So you don’t have any tuner physically connected to the Vero?
If the Sony supports SAT/IP, you can add it to TVHeadend.

Hi, I also own a Sony STR-DN1080 and it only has an FM/AM tuner on board.
@Tim02130 Do you have an appropriate DVB-T/DVB-C/DVB-T2 usb receiver connected to the Vero?

As far as I can tell from internet searches, my AVR doesn’t have SAT/IP (though its setup menu does have an option to display “registered remote devices”, but no way that I can see to set one up).

I also have a Roku Ultra and a Vizo TV; no idea if those might have such capabilities either. I guess the Vero V doesn’t have an “i2s Tuner” builtin? If not, what do you recommend for a USB based one?

No – it doesn’t. You would need an external tuner, e.g. DVB-T2/DVB-C TV dongle - OSMC. But it depends on your region.

Massachusetts?

I think US uses ATSC.
