Certain videos freeze, but audio continues

Hi all,

I’m experiencing a problem with certain video files were the video freezes for a second or two and the audio continues. The video then continues without problems and in sync.

So far this hasn’t happend with HD (720p and 1080p) videos and neither with 4k videos. It has only happened with lower res videos. At the end of this post you can find the media info of one of these files.

TS I’ve done so far:
turn off / on whitelist
turn off / on allow 3:2 pulldown refresh rates
turn off / on allow double refresh rates
Play file locally from USB HDD

Non if this worked, but turning off hardware acceleration did the trick. I’m not sure if turning off hardware acceleration should be the solution.

Here if a log of when the freezing occurs. I stopped the video immediately after it happened.

I think that should be fixed with Kodi 21.

@tanio99 ok no problem I’ll wait, it’s not the end of the world. Thanks for replying.

You could try v21 now if you are interested.

I’m definitely interested in trying v21.

You can use it via the test thread

Following - if that fixes it then I’ll likely need to do the same upgrade, as I’m experiencing a similar issue although it’s on 720p/1080p x264 videos.

The publicly available update popped up for me today, installed that and it seems to have fixed the issue (was mainly x264 1080p videos only, other resolutions and all x265 were working fine).
