I have a home theater and would love to be able to customise the look and feel while powering up things just to show off

I know this thread is old, but I was curious to know if a video could be played instead of a static image…? Where is the splash image called on the Raspberry Pi? Would it be possible to call a media player and have a video show instead?

has something changed here since the last years? Looks like it’s still not possible to add a splash.png into special://home/media .
Guess it’s still only possible via ssh?
You must still manually do it via SSH.
