OSMC or KODI is not concerned.
Too bad there is not a notification when a NAS went to fish…

No.
Well SNMP (Simple Network Monitoring Protocol) can be used to monitor your different devices on your network.
And crontab can be used to schedule jobs. The combination of both can be used to detect devices that are not reachable and then schedule notification.
But also all modern NAS support heartbeat options to monitor and notify
I see. But since I’m a complete newbie, I don’t really want to install things I won’t understand. Especially on my trusty Vero.
So, the old-timer figured that if he did something simple like pinging the NAS devices from a Raspberry Pi and sending an email if one of them went offline, that should solve my problem.
