I have quite a few HDR mkv’s and I find the Vero’s SDR conversion is still very dull compared to native SDR versions. Dialling up the contrast can help, but I get best results by setting the TV’s picture mode to “dynamic”, which pushes both the colour and the contrast. This gives me something that looks like very high quality blu ray. But a global option to select a more dynamic map would be ideal.
Unfortunately, as the photos I’ve posted above illustrate, pushing the contrast on the Vero4K isn’t a valid solution for me ( and with the contrast pushed near the max, I also had a lot of chromatic aberrations in the various movies I tested ), and my display screen doesn’t have a dynamic picture mode ( or equivalent )
