Is there any chance OSMC on the Vero4K will ever get colour management - i.e. 3D-LUT or ICC profile support?
I can calibrate my TV fairly well using HCFR and an i1-Pro but if I connect my Linux laptop (running Kodi with a 3D-LUT) to the TV, I can still see an improvement in the image. It would be so nice to be able to do that directly on the Vero4K.
Cheers
Ian
There is a chance for this in the future
Sam
OK, thanks. I will live in hope …
@sam_nazarko : is there any news on this? Would love to be able to upload a .icm to my 4K+…
Thanks and keep up the good works!
Uploading exact files may be a bit ambitious.
It’s still something we want to do – but we don’t know (honestly) how to approach it yet.
Our SoC doesn’t support 3-D LUTs AFAICT. There are 1-D LUTS but finding out what to put in them is something we’re working on.
Should do – but like 3D, it was left with chunky ToDos.
Are there any updates on this?
This would be something we could probably do on Vero V but not 4K/4K+
5 years ago I had an idea to implement this but things have moved on and there hasn’t been a clamour for it. Modern TVs have lots of adjustments to set up an accurate calibration without using profiles in the player device. I’m guessing only those using PC monitors or maybe PJs would be interested.
As far as I can tell, we can’t support 3-D LUTs on Vero V any more than we could on Vero 4k. Vero V doesn’t even have independent 1-D LUTs for each primary in hardware like Vero 4k has. In short, ICC profile support isn’t going to happen unless someone can prove me wrong by naming a recent AML-powered device that has implemented it.
