Compatibility of Hauppauge USB Tuners with Vero 4K+ and Vero 5

Hello OSMC Team and Community,

I’m looking for some guidance regarding the compatibility of Hauppauge USB TV tuners with the Vero 4K+ and the new Vero 5. Specifically, I’m interested in using the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q and possibly other Hauppauge models (like the WinTV-DualHD) to receive live TV through Tvheadend or similar software.

I’ve read through some forum posts and noticed that users have had mixed experiences, particularly with the WinTV-DualHD where only one of the two tuners was detected or where Tvheadend didn’t recognize the tuner at all despite being detected in dmesg. Additionally, I’m aware that some users have tried using different kernel versions (like the 4.9 testing kernel) to gain better compatibility.

My questions are:

Does the latest version of OSMC on the Vero 4K+ or Vero 5 officially support any Hauppauge tuners?
Are there specific drivers or kernel versions recommended for making these tuners work properly?
Has anyone successfully set up live TV with a Hauppauge tuner on either of these devices, and if so, could you share the steps or any adjustments needed?
Any advice, guidance, or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your support and for the continued development of OSMC.

Best regards,

I am connected to analog NTSC cable television. For internet tv the Vero 4K+ suits me very well

Hi,

Hauppauge should be somewhat well supported now. Can’t guarantee support for exact models. The last mention of this model was in 2018 and we’ve advanced a lot since then. It should work.

If it doesn’t, we should be able to get support in given the age of the tuner.

No, not officially, as we don’t have any of their hardware.

No.

A Hauppage tuner, many people. The specific model you reference (unknown).
