"Connectivity Issues" with RPi 3B

I cloned the SD card of the working version (November) of OSMC, with the intention of using the cloned card to install the current (August) release. The cloning process seemed to work fine. I loaded up the cloned card and OSMC fired up and is running normally. However, the update is not there and I can’t seem to download it. I keep getting “connectivity issues” when I go to My OSMC>Updates>Manual controls and “Scan for updates”

I ran grab-logs -A and the result is here: https://paste.osmc.tv/ehemitupog

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Please try accessing from the command line:

And please provide the output of:

sudo apt-get update

Thanks Tom.

Thanks for the quick response. Here’s the output you’re looking for:

Hi,

I believe you if you either try an update via MyOSMC or issue via the commandline:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

It should be all ok know.

Thanks Tom.

Please let us know how this goes.

I’m afraid no joy here. I just tried downloading the update from My OSMC and got the same “connectivity issue” error. So I tried updating from the command line. It failed too. Here is the output of that attempt:

osmc@osmc:~$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

I appreciate any help.

I should add that when I switched to the cloned SD card, I started having trouble with the internet connection on reboot. I have to fiddle around trying to connect via My OSMC>Network, then exiting, then opening My OSMC>Network again to gain internet access. OSMC also fails to load NextPVR on reboot, even if it has network connectivity. I have to go to the addon and disable, then re-enable it. So, I guess my cloned card could be bad or something went wrong in the cloning process. Do you think that could be the case?

I can go back to the known good card, but I don’t want to update from it in
case I need to fall back to the November release. Perhaps I should go buy another new SD card, clone to it, and try with the new card?

Thanks again for the support.

Stand by.

Go to My OSMC → Updates → Manual Controls → Apply Hotfix.

Enter ucawobahij and proceed.

You can now update your device via My OSMC or the command line.

That worked. I’m up and running and have upgraded to the August release. I need to test some more, but the good news, for me, is that I don’t detect any regressions from the November release. I use OSMC primarily to record and watch OTA TV programs. In the quick tests I’ve just run, live TV and recorded programs look just fine.

If things continue to go well, I’ll upgrade my other Pi as well.

I’m curious about what happened with the “connectivity issues”, but something tells me I don’t need to know what happened and everyone is busy, so I’ll move along. :grinning:

Thanks again for the help!

Is this hotfix specifically for the raspberry pi? I’m having the same error message on my Vero 4K+. If so I’ll start a new thread.

Chris

It’s for all platforms.

Great, it worked! And thanks to the new version I can now play my portrait shot videos too. Thanks for all the hard work!
