Considering purchasing a Vero 2 - a couple of questions

Hi everyone,

I am new to OSMC. Been reading some good stuff about the Vero 2 as the optimal hardware to run OSMC on. A couple of questions though, before I make my decision on getting it or not. I currently have a Pi 3, on which I’ve tested OSMC and so far so good, except for a couple of things:

  1. Does the Vero2 support the VC-1 codec? I’ve noticed that blu-rays I’ve ripped to mkv with a VC-1 codec don’t play back correctly. They stutter and seem to play in slow motion.

  2. With the included remote, is it possible to edit metadata, sorting name, artwork etc within OSMC using the remote? I have only used my TV remote through CEC on my Pi 3 and have not been able to edit anything. I have been using Plex, and their web interface lets you edit almost anything in the library. Is this true with OSMC as well?

  3. Is there a limit on how much USB storage space I can add straight to the Vero 2?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

VC-1 on Pi needs an optional codec licence for £1.20.

Your VC-1 BluRays will play smoothly with that.

  1. Vero 2 will play VC1.
  2. OSMC uses Kodi. You can edit a fair amount of meta data with the Context Menu in Library Mode, but this is the same across all OSMC platforms.
  3. Not really, but high capacity drives need to be formatted as GPT.

Thanks for the fast reply!
