Has anyone experienced this. After about an hour of use my Vero goes into a predictable routine of displaying error messages, Usually youtube login, which I never use, alos BCCi login, which I also never use, Eventually it starts displaying the SEARCH page with a keyboard filling the screen, This is the point where it just keeps on displayting it and I give up and switch the vero off. It always follows the same route and I am really fed up of it as it spoils my viewing. What is happening? Anyone know?
No, that sounds odd.
Some logs and photos of what’s going on should help us
Sam
If these two addons are popping up messages you don’t want, and you’re not using these addons anyway, then just uninstall these addons and the problem should go away.
Right that sound OK but what about the search window? That seems to be a general window
Maybe those unused add-ons are bringing up that window. Hard to tell without a log or further information.
Well I have uninstalled youtube and iplayer and Vimeo. But a little while later it came up with “add-on required’; To use this feature you must download an add-on youtube.
It’s just ridiculous. It is bring up notifications to the fore about add-ons i don’t even have. Could a reload of the firmware be a solution?
I think an upload of your logs could be a solution…
It would be certainly the quickest way to remove add-ons you are not using and restore the system to a stable state, yes
Sam
I’m pretty sure deleting ~/.kodi and restarting would be faster.
Or even Factory Reset via My OSMC, yes.
Thanks for your advice fellows. I have been out for the last few days so haven’t had chance to follow this up but will try a factory reset and/or various other solutions I must add that it is still bringing up random errors and windows relating to iplayer and youtube, both of which I no longer have installed. Strange.
I would suggest getting back to us after following our suggestions
Sam
Sorry for the delay. I wanted to give it an extended use before announcing I have solved it. What happened is no way can I remove the add-ons like youtube and BBC iplayer without a factory reset so I just disabled them all and that has left me with perfect peace.
no error messages and no need for a factory reset which would seriously mess up my settings. So after a few nights of error-less messages they seem to have gone now Thanks for all your advice,
Barry
You can remove them manually from the Kodi userdata directory or under Settings → Add-ons.
No, It seems to not remove them. So I disbale dthem nad that is fine, Probelm solved. :-0
You should definitely be able to remove any add-ons that you install
Some of the ones that come with the system cannot be removed, but can indeed be disabled
Sam
It seems that iplayer and youtube are pre-installed as I never use either and so have never installed them. So maybe this is why it won’t uninstall them?
Neither are pre-installed.
