Cuing video for playback - Pause after first frame for instant playback response

Hello,
I have been searching for a live audience video playback work around for quite a while now, with no success. And OSMC is the closest i have come. It works very reliably with a variety of content and can hide OSD after some simple alterations.
There is just one thing missing: a way to load a video and have it pause after the first frame. Is this possible?
And, also maybe even pause at the last frame?
This would be very handy for video playback at a high school or other small community productions where video load time could put-off the show sync or timing.
Also having the video freeze at the first frame would allow for very smooth operation with a video switcher and keep all menus and directories out of sight (ex. select and cue video to first frame, take OSMC live to audience, play video).

Any suggestions on configuration? Any suggestions of other distros or software that would have this functionality?

Thanks for reading and for any help provided.

OSMC is a linux distribution optimized to run Kodi on Pi/Vero hardware. What you are looking for is help with Kodi, not OSMC, so I would suggest going to the Kodi forums.

We believe this is a Kodi issue or a specific Kodi function and as such you should look at addressing the issue there. If you do believe that this is an OSMC specific issue, please let us know.
