One of my Vero 4K+ devices is kind of ‘dead’, it starts and after some network and share setup (syslog screen output) flashes by, the screen goes black and the Vero doesn’t respond anymore. SSH is also not working.
So, I decided to reinstall OSMC. but with the image install tool I get stuck as well. Whether I download the image file or let it download by the installer program, either way I almost immediately get the following error: “An error occured extracting the archive! Please consult the logfile”. No logfile to be found…
And the manually downloaded image could be extracted with 7-zip just fine.
So, I am stuck with a dead device and no way to reinstall it…
Which OS are you using with the installer?
If the installer is not working you could always write the Image with any image writter (Rufus, Win32diskimager, Etcher, Unetbootin).
Generally it seems restoring via SD Cards is more successful than via USB Drive
Did you check your user folder?
Please provide the information @fzinken has requested so we can get this solved promptly for you

OS is Windows 10, 1903 to be exact.
And with the USB stick created with Rufus I was able to reinstall the Vero.

You need to run the installer as an administrator
I did (Right-click, Run as Administrator) ;o)
Not sure then. Maybe some interaction with AV software
In my case, Symantec Endpoint Protection needs to be disabled before running the installer, otherwise I get the same error.
Haven’t tried, but just using default Windows Defender stuff and configuration.
