Debian 13 support for Vero V

I just switched from my 4k to the new Vero 5. Works excellent i have to say, but i was suprised that its still running on debian 11 like the old one.
Would be interested to know if there is a timeline for the switch to debian 12/13 and what the current blockers are? I guess hardware support in the new kernel, but would be interesting to know.

I’ll chime in, before Sam, with the usual answer:

“When it’s ready!”

There is work going on, but it takes the time it takes.

It’s in the works

On a related note, is it possible to install Debian or any other Linux distribution from scratch on the Vero V?

Yes, but this isn’t something we are officially supporting at this time.

May I ask for JPEG XL support since 12 and 13 have the libjxl packages included?

11/Bullseye does not have the libxl package, but I succeeded in compiling 0.13 on my Vero 5 just out of curiosity. Of course OSMC is not linked to it so no display of JPEG XL files with it.

Cheers,

Martin

If the package is part of Debian 13 then you’ll be able to install it via apt-get.

Newer versions will be in back ports I suspect
