Decent way to cast android screen to Vero V?

Hi there,

Since the Youtube app now requires an API, and invidious instances are blocked by google, I have no seamless way of queing up youtube content for the tv.

I used to use Yatse or Kore to send the youtube link, that still sometimes works but often errors out with the API requirement. Its not very normie friendly.

Is there any modern way to cast my phone screen dirrctly to kodi or the vero directly? Ios or android is fine.

Triple points if it is FOSS.

I use the “Cast Kodi” firefox plugin to send youtube videos to my vero.
(that is, you install the Cast Kodi onto the firefox running on your laptop/desktop computer, and then when you go to a youtube video page, you can send the video to the kodi running on the vero on your TV)

This works but has the same problem, it just sends the link directly to the youtube plugin in Kodi. It asks for a youtube API key which I don’t want to make because the whole point of FOSS tech for me is to avoid the data collection from these big players.

Thanks for your help, but I guess I am looking for a way to cast the screen directly to Kodi or OSMC, because there are a number of working youtube front-ends on mobile or dekstop.

I have slyguy’s youtube alternative installed to play the videos. It cannot do browsing, which is why you need something like the kodi-cast to que up the videos for you.

Thank you!

Whenever I try to cast something, it does load up correctly, but around 10 seconds in (no matter the video) it makes a strange buzzing sound and playback stops. Have tried everything and nothing within the internal slyguy logs. Does yours work appropriately for non-trailer stuff?

mine works for anything with no issues.
