Hello everyone,
using the DLNA server feature of Vero V and USB storage, it seems that this works and the DLNA server is visible to home computers and TVs only if I create a library in the “video” section from the Vero V settings. Is that so?
or can I use the DLNA server from Vero even without creating it?
In addition, by creating a “clone” library of the same archive via USB on the DLNA server I see the duplicate files because I see them both in the respective subfolders in “mounted drives” and in the subfolders divided by genres, artists, directors, etc.
Is it possible to create a DLNA server on Vero and USB storage by choosing only to see “mounted drives” or subfolders divided by genres, artists, directors, etc.? If so, how?
As explained in another thread opened a little while ago, I have had the Vero V for a very short time, so I apologize if I am asking things that have already been written here and clarified…
Thanks in advance for your reply
Kodi’s DLNA server will only interact with items that have been scraped into a library. There is no other options that I’ve seen.
As for the cloning I’m a bit unclear on what exactly you have done. Did you add a single source that had both a path to a DLNA source AND a local mount? If so the behavior in the Videos section (file mode/sources) on a source path with more than one file path is to visually combine them together so they appear as they are just one source with all the content of the sources in the same place. If this behavior is not desired then one should add a different source for each media location they add.
Perhaps it would be better to explain what hardware and file sources you have and how exactly you would like to configure it to work.
Thanks for the reply.
As indicated my hardware is the Vero V player.
From what you write the DLNA server is created exclusively when a link is created in the library… correct?
In my case I explained that when I create a link in the library with videos on USB the DLNA server appears in the devices (PC, TVs) of my network. Without doing so the DLNA server does not appear.
anyway… Opening the DLNA server I see 2 folders:
- one related to the “mounted devices” (like on TV in the Vero V)
- one related to the classic DLNA with subfolders divided by genres, artists, directors, etc.
Browsing in both folders I see the same files.
I was asking if there is a way to display only one of the two folders in the list above in the DLNA server and not both possibilities
It would appear my knowledge on this topic was a bit outdated. I just tried it myself and it would seem that currently you can UPnP files that you have added as a source but not scrapped into a library. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t something you could do some time in the past.
I’m not finding any option to do this. Checking Kodi’s wiki on UPnP and advancedsettings.xml didn’t show any customization options for this feature. I wasn’t spotting anything with a more general web search either. Kodi’s implementation of this feature has always been a bit basic.
