Does kodi play .mov file (Iphone)

Hello

I know that maybe the question should be post on the kodi forum but I have a vero 4k+ and i have a lot of problem while trying to play .mov coming from an iphone.

should I need to convert these file ?

Thank you for you help

Yes it will play but I think the iPhone records at 60fps which may be beyond the capabilities of the hardware you are trying to use. I use a Pi2 and needed to re-encode down to 30fps to get my videos to play nicely.

ok thanks

what do you use for that ? VLC ?

Most likely https://handbrake.fr/

MediaInfo output of the file would be useful

Sam

Yes, I used Handbrake

This is probably your issue if your problem “which you did not actually state what exactly it was” is stuttering or sync. If you re-encode with handbrake you can set it to “constant frame rate” and that tends to be a lot less problematic.

the problem was

stuttering first then it crashed osmc completely.

I am just a little bit suprised that the iphone file are not supported. This is not a complain but I guess i should not be the only one trying to see the small movie we take on a bigger screen ?

I am going to try handbrake

Thanks for you help

There’s no system logs so it’s difficult to see the issue

hevc 4k .mov’s taken from my iPhone 7+ playback fine on my vero4k+
No conversion was necessary.
