Upgraded to the May release recently and noticed an issue with playback of a DV FEL remux that I have not seen before.
During the opening credits, when the logo and text fade in and out from black, there is often a secondary “flash” of previous frames repeated on screen. It is obvious on both fade-in and fade-out transitions, but is most noticeable when the studio logo initially fades out. My guess is some kind of sync issue with the FEL layer?
The file in question is from the Transformers (2007) UHD Blu-ray, created with MakeMKV 1.18.3.
Forcing playback on the Vero to HDR-only works fine; the problem only occurs in DV mode. I have not noticed this behaviour with any other FEL titles so far.

I have created a quick sample file from which I can reproduce the issue consistently.
Worth noting that playback of the original 4k Disc on an Oppo 203 in DV mode does not show this issue.

To confirm, I can recreate this DV “flash” problem with my setup using your sample file.
Furthermore the “flash” does not happen when played back using VLC & windows.

I can still duplicate the behaviour using the latest staging.

I can’t 100% validate this new file recreates the issue as I am not home to test, but it is just the same cut of the first 60s without any other modifications.

Thanks. I can reproduce this but I’ve no idea why it’s happening. I’ve got two other cuts of Transformers (not at the opening credits) and I can’t recall the users who supplied those mentioning this glitch. So my theory is it’s a bad rip.
I did a re-rip before just in case it was that and the issue followed - This new clip comes from the new rip.
Unless it is something in the source itself and the muxing from TS to MKV, but not doing anything special with the rip itself.
The only direct comparison I can make where FEL is retained in the playback chain is with the original disc in the Oppo, and in that scenario it does not occur.
I’m stumped. Let us know if you get a similar effect at any other point in the video. Otherwise, can you live with it just in the credits?
The same issue occurs at 52secs in the opening credits sample. I haven’t seen any more anomalies but I haven’t looked that closely at the whole film. It only seems to be visible on those fade to black points though.
I don’t have any particular affinity with the film so not fussed about this example, concern was more if it was a wider issue with the Vero implementation.
I haven’t seen anything similar on other titles so maybe it is just an authoring issue on this specific source, or possibly it is introduced in the mkv remuxing, no idea really. I assume DV playback from the ISO or the raw M2TS files is supported so can try that at some point.
I suppose what would be interesting is if anyone who has an alternate “unofficial FEL” device that uses the dovi.ko can also reproduce with the mkv file.
just had chance to look at this, it’s not a bad rip issue. My Transformers FEL mkv into an LG C5 has no issues with an Ugoos AM6B+ on either CE 22 nightly or on p3i T4c. With the Vero, there is a definite stutter and brief screen blank at the transition from the Paramount lead-in to the start of the film.
