Driver support for Archer T2U Plus (wireless usb adapter)?

I just got OSMC running today on I believe the latest kernel (4.19.122-1-osmc) but my wireless adapter doesn’t seem to connect. I’m using an RPi 3B+ and this adapter was working just fine out of the box on my last installation of LibreElec.

Does anyone have anymore information on how I might get it working with OSMC?

Adapter

If you search here you could find several post of T2U (maybe not +).
I guess your best bet is to check on your libreelec install which driver is used there and also the output of lsusb and post the results here.

According to this, it uses the RTL8811AU chipset.

You might need to build the driver yourself. It’s possible that the rtl8812au driver will also work. I can get GitHub - zebulon2/rtl8812au: RTL8812AU/21AU Driver for Linux to compile, though I have no idea if it’ll work with your device.

You’ll probably need to modify the headers, as detailed here.

Thanks for the help. So I tried to go about building the driver myself but I am still not finding any success. I tried to modify the headers too and I’ve gotten to the point where these are my results:

osmc@osmc:~/rtl8812au$ make ARCH=arm
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE= -C /lib/modules/4.19.122-1-osmc/build M=/home/osmc/rtl8812au modules
make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/rbp2-headers-4.19.122-1-osmc'

make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/rbp2-headers-4.19.122-1-osmc'
Makefile:1870: recipe for target 'modules' failed
make: *** [modules] Error 2

I’m not sure how to go any further. I’m planning to reinstall LibreElec as
fzinken
mentions to see which driver was giving me positive results and I’ll report back.

Running lsmod on LE should let you know which module it uses.

Just have it on a second SD Card then you can easier compare if more details needed.

Ok so I just reinstalled LibreELEC and this is what I get from lsusb:

LibreELEC:~ # lsusb

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

System info tells me LibreELEC (9.2.3) is running kernel 4.19.122.

Just looking around in /lib/modules/ shows a folder “RTL8812AU” which I assume is the driver for my adapter. Excuse me if this is a silly question, but how can I get this in my OSMC installation? I tried a few methods from other forum posts but no luck as of yet.

Thanks. These are my results:

It definitely seems like 8812au is what I’m looking for!

That module will be re-added to a new kernel in OSMC soon.

That’s great to hear. Looking forward to using this adapter asap as my only internet method is wifi for the time being.

It’s not clear why the build failed. If you have installed the headers package and created the symbolic link:

sudo ln -s /usr/src/rbp2-headers-$(uname -r) /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build

it should have built correctly.

However, I see that the T2U Plus has a VID:PID of 2357:0120 but the driver I built doesn’t have this combination, the closest being 2357:0122. There is a workaround to this issue but if OSMC will be including the 8812au driver in the next release, it’s probably worth waiting for it.

I must have made a few errors along the way before getting to that point. Nonetheless, I appreciate the help and will be waiting patiently for the next release.
