eGalax Touch Screen not working with OSMC RC2 on Pi B+

Hi there,

i hope someone can help me in this matter:

I’ve got a 7" Tontec LCD with eGalax Touch Screen. I knew that eventually the touchscreen wouldn’t work out of the box, but is there any chance, getting it to work with the latest OSMC Release?

lsusb delivers the following info, that it’s correctly recognized -->

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0eef:0001 D-WAV Scientific Co., Ltd eGalax TouchScreen

but evtest doesn’t recognize it -->

osmc@osmc:~$ evtest
No device specified, trying to scan all of /dev/input/event*
Not running as root, no devices may be available.
Available devices:
/dev/input/event0:      Smart Smart Wireless Device
/dev/input/event1:      Smart Smart Wireless Device

Can anybody point me to the right direction what to look next?

I think this need to be enabled in the kernel and there is a Kodi patch for it. I don’t believe the Kodi patch has been regularly updated though, which is why I did not include it in OSMC

So there’s no chance of enabling the touchscreen to work with osmc?

It’s not something I’ve had a chance to look at and unfortunately not something I can easily test either.

Hi - I’m having this same problem. There are guides out there, but none seem to work properly. If I send you a touch panel and LCD for testing, would you consider adding support for it?

I am having exactly the same problem in OSMC with my Eleduino 7" Touch Screen.
