I use Prometheus Node Exporter + Grafana to monitor several hosts, including my OSMC box (currently kernel 5.15.92-1-osmc), and noticed the “Pressure” panel never populates on it while it works fine on my other Linux hosts. Checking /boot/config-$(uname -r) shows # CONFIG_PSI is not set - so it looks like PSI support isn’t compiled into the OSMC kernel at all, rather than just being disabled by default (as it is on RHEL-family kernels, where it’s compiled in and just needs a psi=1 boot parameter).
PSI (/proc/pressure/cpu, /memory, /io) has been in mainline since Linux 4.20 and is a fairly standard, low-overhead way to see how much time processes actually spend stalled waiting on CPU, memory, or I/O - genuinely useful on a small ARM device like this (Raspberry Pi 4) for spotting when Kodi playback or transcoding is contending with other load. Most mainstream distros ship it compiled in these days.
Would it be possible to enable CONFIG_PSI=y in a future OSMC kernel build? Happy to test if it helps. Thanks for all the work on OSMC either way!
