i have a problem with my sound on osmc with the hifiberry

ERROR: CAESinkALSA::Initialize - failed to initialize device “iec958:CARD=sndrpihifiberry,DEV=0”

sometimes i got that error on movie start or end, its very random but annoying, someone have some helping idea?

  • The issue you are currently experiencing with OSMC
    on movie start or end, i have (sometimes but -very annoying- often) no sound

  • What you were doing when this issue occurred
    i’m angry because i have the movie startet without sound, so i restart it to hope for a next try

  • Whether you can replicate this issue on demand. If you can, then please provide some steps on how an OSMC developer can reproduce the same issue.
    dont know, maybe with the same hardware? but first, is there any way to explain why the device failed to initialize? just a example, hardware defekt?

  • The device you are currently running OSMC on
    rpi3b+ with hifiberry

  • What peripherals are attached to the device?
    an arduino nano over usb just for some serial-commanding

  • Has this issue been introduced by a new version of OSMC? When did the issue first appear and can you recall a time when it was not present?
    No, maybe it has no issue on non-updated osmc, but i’m not sure. so if i know a moment of “all runs good”, i would recreate this day, but this day isnt existing

with “tail -F /home/osmc/.kodi/temp/kodi.log” i get this line on failed sound:

and last, screenshot isnt helpfull for you, because i have no sound :smiley:

There seems to be something missing from those logs. Can you please reboot, then try to play a local file and upload logs again.
