Error installing samba

hi,

I’ve got an error while installing samba via app store.

Error installing samba
please report this on the OSMC forum

some packages were not installed/removed
Details have been written to the Kodi log

Your WiFi adapter seems to have issues with beacon frames. What model is it?

I looked at your term.log, but it’s in German, so I can’t really understand it. What happens when you run:

Please post the output of:

sudo -s
export LANG=C
dpkg --configure -a
apt-get update
apt-get install smb-app-osmc

The last two lines of your log seem to be corrupt or incomplete - are you sure this is a direct copy and paste ?

hi DBMandrake,

I’ve repeated the procedure again and added a screenshot above. The same result.

I’ve also notice about that the apt-get install is a little bit different as the ones I used before.

there was a progress bar with green background while installing
after that all the information of installing packages were disappeared.

I’ve dragged the window in purpose during installation to keep this informaiton

For some reason your SSH client cannot correctly display the Dpkg “fancy progress” bar at the bottom, this is leading to corruption of the display and the error message. (Most likely your terminal type is set wrong in the client - what client are you using ?)

Please try installing smb-app-osmc with this command, which will disable the fancy progress bar and should let us see the error message in its complete form:

sudo apt-get install smb-app-osmc -o Dpkg::Progress-Fancy=0

I’m using the terminal under Mac OSX as SSH client.

MacBook-Pro$bash -v
bash-3.2$

I could not repeat the same procedure because I’ve reinstalled the OSMC now everything works right.

I have the same problem installing samba.

I get the following error:

Try completely purging the samba and smb-app-osmc packages then reinstall:

sudo apt-get purge samba smb-app-osmc

Well there are a wide range of possible issues, try:

sudo apt-get purge samba samba-common samba-common-bin samba-libs smb-app-osmc
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo rm -r /etc/samba/

And then try to install it from the App Store

dpkg -l | grep samba to find your Samba packages you installed, then purge them.
