I have a bit of a head scratcher.
I have my Vero V which I want to use with my 4k DV projector and my old Marantz AV8801 processor.
Now whilst the Marantz supports 4k, being only HDMI 1.4, it doesn’t support any form of HDR. And unfortunately, the ARC on it is just ARC, not eARC so if I feed the audio from the Vero → Projector → ARC → AV8801, I only get lossy DD or DTS.
I have purchased an HDMI splitter that whilst it says it can copy the EDID from the first output, I can’t get it working reliably, as soon as I plug the 8801 into the second output, all HDR content is lost and I’m back to SDR.
Now I did see an option in the system settings to force HDR format. But it only goes as far as HDR, HDR10 and HDR10+, there’s no mention of Dolby Vision. All my DV content comes back looking really nice, but the projector only shows it as HDR10+ and not Dolby Vision. How much of a real difference that causes, I’m not sure. Maybe it is in fact DV, but the Vero can’t say it for licensing reasons?
I have also, with the help of AI, looked for custom edit suggesting I could write the edid into a /boot/config-user.txt file but either I’m doing something wrong or it’s not working - all content plays back as SDR only.
So is there a way to fix it so I can force DV output even if one of the sink devices doesn’t report as supporting it?
