Frameskipping in some 4K files

I’ve tried and sadly it’s no.

The USB bus looses performance by quite a bit when the vero4k is under load. Ordinary playback with audio resample is enough to cause issues.

I tried with 61mbps average bitrate content and on quake-cam like scenes it would just shatter the playback.

The built-in NIC would do around 90-70mbps straight but the USB NIC would be on the lower 60-50mbps, almost the same as AC Wifi for me.

At least I had other use for the gigabit usb3 dongle, so no money wasted.

My solution is far from stable, I patched the way kodi handles buffers to be more aggressive and use up all of the available 2G memory, forcing OS and other daemons to swap out. This makes the device very unstable but it withstands several seconds of quake-cam at high bitrates.

I’ve pinged you on IRC.

We can definitely take better advantage of Vero 4K’s additional free RAM.
If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, let’s have a chat. I also have some ideas on how to improve USB performance. The more testers the better.
