720p videos or xvid are working.
settings are as suggested here: HD HEVC videos not playing on OSMC August 2021 update - #6 by ActionA

i had to disconnect the rpi and restart, here’s the kodi.log:
https://pastebin.com/tqGwLhVQ

is see a lot of onnect replacing configured host 192.168.178.222 with resolved host 192.168.178.222, does this mean anything?

best regards

The device may be overheating.

strange. i’ve used this device for a while now and this problem first came up with kodi 19
should i monitor the temperature of my raspi?

I would check temperatures and PSU.

PSU is not warm, temperature (watch -n 2 vcgencmd measure_temp) is at 58°C on idle, goes to ~64.5°C when one of the files mentioned in my opening post starts and is at 66.6°C when the video freezes.
