Fresh Install Problem

I have a simple setup with a TV, Raspberry Pi 4 with OSMC and a multi drive USB enclosure. It has run for years with hardware and software upgrades over that time. Recently I suddenly had a variety of issues with it which, having checked here, I now realise were caused by the Debian issue.

My reaction to the problems was to do a fresh install. I now know that I should have come here first, but in my defence, I could not recall any problem that couldn’t be fixed with an update or a fresh install.

However, I am now stuck. Each time I do a reinstall all seems well until the progress arrives at the beginning of the configuration section. The list of countries does not have focus and none of the keys on the remote have any effect except to launch a simple information banner at the top of the screen. I am using the latest image, downloaded for each attempt. I have two RPi4 and two microSD cards and have tried all combinations with no difference.

I would be grateful for any advice as to how I might get it working again. The prospect of having to live with ‘live’ TV is not good at all!

Without knowing what your remote is I can only guess that it is some kind of IR setup that needs to be configured in My OSMC. If that is the case I’d guess that the best path forward would be to either plug in a USB Keyboard [Kodi wiki reference] or try CEC with your TV routing the control through it.

Thanks for the input, but the remote worked ‘out of the box’ and for a couple of years without any configuration.

You have not said what kind of remote you’re using. I don’t remember ever running across this issue or anyone else posting about it here. To figure it out, more information is needed.
