Guide for 3D on Vero V?

There need to be a guide for playing 3D movie on Vero V, somewhere. Especially since you can’t search for the term “3D” in this forum (too short).

For my case, I have a Vero V plugged on a projector (Leica Cine Play 1) which apparently supports 3D.

  • Default settings don’t work.
  • I tried to play with the various parameters but none of them makes it output 3D which looks to be usable via active shutter glasses. Some parameters make all videos look bad.
  • Kodi’s own 3D guide is starting with generalities in the first half, and then delves into platform-specific advises, none of which applies to the Vero V. Furthermore it confesses to be outdated as of Kodi 18 …
  • OSMC’s wiki is empty on the subject (at least, search for “3D” returns nothing).

All in all, a discoverable guide for playing 3D videos would be very nice. Is the info somewhere ?

If the projector is hooked up to an AV Receiver, make sure there are no other displays connected to it at the same time, as output capabilites will be downgraded to the lowest common denominator even if the other display is off.

The projector is directly hooked to the Vero V via an HDMI cable.

3D in general should just work.

Good point about a Wiki post. Once we find out what/why things aren’t working for you, I am sure we can learn from it and create some advice accordingly

What format are the files you are trying to play? Sometimes it helps to have them named in certain way for Kodi to recognize them.

Your projector looks to support DLP Link, so should accept frame-packed input. You should be selecting “Same as Source” whenever it pops up in Kodi.

Another possible issue is that the HDMI cable must support high speed connection. I have run in to problems many times where swapping an HDMI cable or port fixed the problem.

That was a bad setting, see solution here: Active Shutter 3D Support - #18 by fzinken
