HDMI-CEC stopped working after May update on LG and Samsung TVs

I grabbed a new kodi.log with both logging options enabled. However, http://paste.osmc.io/ produces an Error 500 and I cannot upload it…

try with cat .kodi/temp/kodi.log | paste-log

A post was split to a new topic: This it’s what I get for threadjacking unrelated topics!

Using the method mentioned by @fzinken it works…

As said, I actually had the same problem after update.
After another dist-upgrade yesterday it seems to wotk again.

I fixed this with another solution. The thing for my is that on a LG and SONY TVs when only the KODI was connected to the TV, CEC works fine, but when I connect in the HDMI 2 my cable TV service (arris brand) the CEC in KODI stop working. I tried many things but couldn’t fix it so at the end I just put a little piece of tape over the pin 13 (CEC pin) of my TV service hdmi cable to disable CEC, after that KODI works perfect and it doesn’t affect at all my TV service. Could sound a bit tricky but it work.

Hope this can help someone!

As promised, I checked the patched provided by @pingumale on the Samsung UE65KS8000L … unfortunately it DOES NOT work, aka CEC remote control is not operational, much in the same way as the May 2017-2/3 builds.

Log follows here → https://paste.osmc.tv/hobodovewa

Unfortunately, I grabbed the logs after installing the patch and I had no way (or knowledge) to remove it afterwards. I tried through apt-get, through dkpg … both reported that the rb2-libcec-4.0.2 [or something like that] is a dependency of other services and it cannot get uninstalled OR re-installed from the repo as the patch has a build number greater than the one available on the repo.

If anyone can indicate how to remove the .deb patch and install the original library provided by OSMC, please let me know so I can grab some logs as well.

Try apt-get update && apt-get install rbp2-libcec-osmc=4.0.2-5

Shoud be the same build number. To replace by repository version, try: apt-get --reinstall install rbp2-libcec-osmc

Will try both by next Sunday in order to grab more logs as the kodi/TV set is not on premises. However, (not working) CEC behavior can be seen from the logs already uploaded.

Thank you both @dillthedog and @pingumale

Hello,

It is been a while since I first reported the issue…

After many OSMC updates since then and two Samsung updates (TV firmware now in version T-JZMDEUC-1203.6, BT-S - model UE65KS8000), the TV remote is still non usable via HDMI CEC. The cables have been tested, the units power-cycled with enough time for the capacitors to drain etc.

I have uploaded a debug logfile should any more information/guidelines can be given…
