PS - this has been a really, really good thread. So much knowledge and expertise - it’s great to see this level of discussion.

Any news on how far away we are from a test build of the new kernel? 
With the incorrect HDR metadata parsing on the current Vero-kernel and the 1000cd/m2 bug on these 2017 OLEDs I haven’t watched a single HDR movie in over a month, so I’m really looking forward to trying out this new kernel.
We already have a repository for it, but we don’t recommend it is tested yet, as there are a few things to fix yet.
Just adding this for fun - but I got a friend to test the samples above on their LG 2016 B6 with an ODroidN2… and it totally broke their system… when they play back 4K video it just goes green/black then resets - before the test video trial it worked fine.
Soo… while the Vero may not do it quite right, at least it still outputs 4K video 
Rest assured, when we output all the metadata, we’ll do it right
