No, OSMC is not Raspbian. That command doesn’t even exist. Just backup your /home/osmc/.kodi directory and re-install. Then restore the .kodi directory.
The important part is to install to a different SD card. It’ll give a good indicator if the issue is with OSMC or specific to your installation.
If it’s with OSMC, we can take it from there and, if not, you’ll have a clean installation and can make whatever configurations to want to it.
I ordered a new microSD, I’ll try that this weekend, thanks everyone for the help! I’ll report back with any findings
I would have tried a reinstall first. It’s hard to speculate as to the issue without some idea of how / if you have customised your OSMC setup. If you’ve been tinkering a bit, that will likely be it.
I do have a pretty custom OSMC setup… I have RetroPie installed as a program within OSMC, I have Pi-hole running in the background, and right before this issue appeared I had just installed a2dp for Bluetooth streaming to my Rpi
So I restored my SD card to an image I had taken a little while ago (the HiFiBerry was still working at the time), in hopes to get the Rpi to recognize the soundcard-- the image has the April 2017.04-1 update…I had no luck with this, aplay -l still shows “no soundcards found”
I grabbed logs from this, they’re located here: https://paste.osmc.tv/kupikafacu
I also did a fresh install of OSMC on a brand new SD card… and still, “no soundcards found”…do I need to re-seed the HiFiBerry maybe?
I also grabbed logs from this and they’re located here: https://paste.osmc.tv/esutuhogab
If the April image isn’t working for you, I’d check the card itself, and even Raspbian to see if the issue persists. An older version of OSMC should work, as should the latest version of OSMC.
Sam
Sam, that was a great suggestion, I installed the Raspbian image from HiFi Berry that has some scripts to detect their soundcards, even with this image the card isn’t being recognized, I’m not sure how but it seems the card has gone bad, thank you so much for your help-- looks like I’ll be ordering a new card
So this may be a little off topic from the original title of this post but in a way it’s related
So I’m back to using my original SD card with my April image installed, when I go to update OSMC, I get “error installing (unknown package)”
dmesg log for this is located here: https://paste.osmc.tv/mupibowajo
The apt log would be more useful.
Sorry about that, all logs located here: https://paste.osmc.tv/sanufulesa
