HLG HDR Support?

I’m not sure if this was ever covered but does the Vero support HLG?

Not yet (from an automatic perspective)

We will work on support for it soon.
Enabling support for HLG just involves correctly detecting HLG content and then flagging the EOTF. There is no metadata to send, so it is easier than HDR.

Sam

I’ve tried with the test content here:

Neither triggered HLG HDR mode on my tv with vero4k, so i found this thread…

Interestingly with the emby on the tv, only the cymatic test clip worked, the tv didn’t trigger itself for the travelxp one…

mediainfo shows for travelxp:
Color primaries : BT.2020
Transfer characteristics : HLG
Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant

and for the LG cymatic clip:
Color primaries : BT.2020
Transfer characteristics : HLG / BT.2020 (10-bit)
Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant

I’m not sure what the difference is (but I’d like to know), I’m wondering if its a bug in the TV too. I wonder if osmc can support this before LG do natively :).

Interesting.

Both clips enable HDR mode on my Philips TV when played with internal media player on TV.

Would like to see HLG added to Vero if possible as I want to test if my TV supports HLG over HDMI.
During the World Cup I watched the BBC 4K live streams (4K HLG) on my Roku + and it never engaged HDR mode on my TV.
I always wanted to know if it was the Roku+ not outputting HLG or my TV not accepting it via HDMI !!!

It’s not ready yet, but we are working on it
