I am new to OSMC and just bought the Vero V and struggling to get started. I want to use it to watch videos on a USB hard drive but I can’t figure out how to get it to see the drive. I have tried both USB ports and rebooted the device several times but it’s not coming up. What do I need to do?
How are you powering the hard drive?
Can you show me a photo of the hard drive specs or let me know the model number?
The USB3 port can provide 0.9A of power output but if it’s a drive that sips a lot of power you’ll need a powered hub or need to use the drive’s external power supply

It turns out it was an issue with the USB cable (I had been using a USB-C one to transfer the files from my laptop so this was the first time I’d used it with the USB-A one). Tried a different cable and now it has picked up the drive 
It’s an SSD so I don’t think should need external power? Crucial X9 4tb

SSDs still use power, albeit lower than their mechanical counterparts.
If it’s working fine now you should be OK but would consider a powered hub if adding a further drive in the future
