Dear community,
happy owner of a Vero 5 having upgraded from the 4.
Didn’t do a fresh setup when I got the 5 but migrated to avoid having to re-set up everything.
Meanwhile I had restructured/ reshuffled my NAS where the films and shows rest with the result that I had a lot of doubletts in the artwork and lists. It got very annoying so I just deleted the databases assuming they would get rescraped - which they didn’t.
As such I now need to go via the folder structure rather than the nice display .
Wonder whether there is an easy fix or whether once Kodi 21 is out I should start afresh.
I use Aeon MQ9 as as skin use both TVDB and the moviedb and some other plugins to ease the sraping (too many at the same time that conflict ?).
If better placed in another forum let me know so that I move over to kodi or alike;-)
thanks for ideas
If you deleted the databases you need to setup your sources again and then have Kodi re-scrape everything.
The database contains both the metadata of scrapped content AND information of how sources should be scraped. Thus, when you deleted your database you also removed your scraping settings. First, if you didn’t delete them when you deleted the database you should also delete your thumbnails folder and texturecache13.db as a new library will not use the old artwork and you would be taking up space needlessly, and potentially, depending on the size of your library, cause disk space issues when scraping your library anew. Once that is sorted you would go to your sources and bring up the context menu and choose the “set content” option to enable your scraper again so the library updates will work as expected.
As for the conflicts with library items you might need to just be a bit more diligent in how you name your folders. More often than not movies or series that share the same name do not share the same year and if you include this information in your file/folder naming this will fix most of that issue. In more difficult cases I’d suggest to google “kodi parsing nfo” or just search this forum for the same for information on how that works. Your skin isn’t actually involved in any of that, as where the library information comes from is only a byproduct of what is set for the scraper for any given folder. I personally find it most convenient to just use TMDB for all my scraping in Kodi, and for the odd occasions where I want to use TVDB for a particular series, I just use Tiny Media Manager to make local scraping info for that particular show. I’ve found the difference between the two mostly comes down to older series that had long been canceled so it is a bit of a do it once and its done type of situation.
As for your initial issue, for future edification, if you just moved and/or renamed some items you probably just needed to run a clean library to remove the old items. This is assuming you didn’t actually modify any of the sources in Kodi as that causes a bigger issue. In that case the only correct way to deal with that kind of a reorganization is to delete the source, select yes to removing those items from the library, and then add the new source and scrape it anew.
Thanks a lot - this did the trick
