Hi folks,
if I ssh into the osmc I can run “sudo service mediacenter stop” … now I can choose between tty2-tty7 via CTRL+ALT+F2-F8…
However, this does not work while Kodi is running? Am I missing something obvious?

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the information available in the wiki.
I don’t think it is possible to use console while Kodi is running though.
Go to Power -> Exit and press ESC. We disabled chvt in Kodi

Long question short: Why? And how to reenable?
Simple situations like kodi-hangup or doing other stuff are otherwise only possible via ssh.
We don’t have the TTY’s enabled via systemd anymore (just one), so you may have to change it there.

Actually systemd does have auto spawn tty’s enabled in OSMC - you can switch to consoles 2 through 6 with ALT-Fx or chvt, but you can only do this if you have already exited from Kodi. It won’t work while Kodi is running.
