How To Set Up The Vero V To Download Subtitles?

I have done a bit of searching both here and on the Kodi forum, but I am none the wiser. Can someone point me to instructions on how to set up the V to get and download subtitles, mainly for TV series? I did read that I needed to install an ‘add-on’ but do not know which one, where to get it and how to install & configure it.
Thanks.

A while back I used to use OpenSubtitles, but I think that now needs an API or membership. I am sure some others can chime in regarding the best option for subtitles.

Downloading subtitles at the player level via Kodi is very clumsy.
It is much better to source the subtitles first.
We always watch with subtitles on here at my house and I have to tell you that chasing down subtitles after the fact will always be a major pain and there will be issues (placement, typos, etc).
It’s best to always grab the subtitles from the source.
Every now and then I get a Blu-ray that doesn’t have subtitles on it, it’s pretty rare… I’m looking at you Olive Films, and then you have no choice but to hunt them down and then you need to make sure they are in sync etc.
Your best bet is always to get a better source with subtitles from the get go.

Agreed.

Thanks for the advice Kontrarian. That’s what I will do, look at the source to see if Subs are included in my language.

Kodi’s add-on for opensubtitles.org now requires you pay to get an api key that has to be entered into that add-on, but there is also an add-on for opensubtitles.com which doesn’t despite it being the same people behind both sites. I think subscene usually has the same or similar and the Kodi repo has an add-on for them as well.
