[HowTo] Installing RetroPie alongside OSMC RC (the easy way)

gonna add moonlight to it ?

Yes, Iā€™m aware of that. Iā€™m just looking for a way of running dosbox from EmulationStation from your version of RetroPie. So, as @Toast suggested, Iā€™ll try to install dosbox manuallyā€¦

I can not install the PS3 controller driverā€¦

Instal OSMC RC3 and Retropie
https://github.com/mcobit/retropie-osmc

Can you help? PS3 wireless gamepad I tested on RetroPie 2.6 and it worked OK. OSMC+Retropie not worked.

.

Not sure yet as it is not directly retrogaming related.
Maybe you better package it up as a deb archive and ask the team to put it into the appstore?

On a Pi 2 there is debian jessie, not raspbian. So some packages are missing in your installation commands.
You can try to get those from raspbian or compile the needed programs/libs yourself.
Also this link (GitHub - mcobit/retropie-osmc: This is a simple script to install retropie alongside osmc.) leads to my old repo. I donā€™t recommend to use this script anymore.

Preparing a new version of repo, new version of script compatible with OSCM June?

Sure no worries

Not as easy as you make it sound. Better ask the osmc devs for ps3 controller support in the os.
I would have a go at it but I donā€™t have a PS3 controller.

Preparing a new version of script retropie-osmc?

This script has nothing to do with your problems to get the controller working.

Also I do not maintain it anymore. I am in the process of building a new one (retrosmc). The first version of this is released for testing. Please read the first post and the linked post in it.
I want to get it working in itā€™s current state before adding more features.
I donā€™t want to do a race with osmc as I donā€™t want to break everything with a new release of osmc.

Preparing a new script or new version or even fixing package dependencies with the old script is very time consuming. Thatā€™s why I now ship everything in an os independent package.

I will release a new version of this new script when I have the time for working on it. Right now I do not as my job and family need more attention at the moment.

If you can fix the old script, feel free to clone my repo and release a new one. No worries.

Looks really cool! But how functional is it at this stage?
They mention XBMC-integration but say that detail will be revealed soon (but never were), do you have any idea on what type of integration they were/are planning?

And on a side note but Iā€™ve been wondering if Rom Collection Browser could be integrated with Osmc (through retrosmc or some other way) - That way one would need to leave the OSMC gui in the same way (but dependencies would be loaded on start up? or when launching individual roms?)

Iā€™d love to use rcb, but it relies on kodi running in the background while emulators are running. Without an xserver to manage that (input/sound/etc) it will not work this way. OSMC runs kodi directly on the framebuffer so ti free it to make evrything work in the emulators, kodi has to exit before starting the emulators. You could stop kodi from rcb too before running emulators, but after exiting an emulator you need to start kodi again and it will be on the homescreen instead on rcb where you would need to navigate to again to run another game.
So not really practicable right now.

Is it possible to emulate flash (swf) games on rpi2? Be great addition.

Not that easy but possible. Adobe doesnā€™t develop their flash plugin for arm devices anymore afaik.
But crowriot from the OpenPandora community built an environment around the last publicly available version to map controls and do some scaling. Somebody could try to get that working on the pi.
It is called flashenv iirc.

Gday, Thanks so much for this script. Im really looking forward to getting this working. Ive done a fresh OSMC install 2015.06-1 and running the install-retropie script from here: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mcobit/retrosmc/master/install-retrosmc.sh

Unfortunately the shortcut is not created (even though it reports success and when I select item 3 in the menu it says its already there). I can run retropie.sh via Advanced launcher but none of the inputs are present as KODI is still running (I assume) are you able to help? Perhaps all I need is a script for shutting down kodi and launching retropie (and visa versa)

UPDATE: I flashed ā€œproperā€ retropie to another sd card then copied all the roms/bios and config over the ones on the OSMC install. Took a few tries to get the controller config to work but its working fantastically with no sound. The mod probe doesnt seem to help. Im launching via Advanced Launcher as the confluence config doesnt seem to work at all.

use the retropie setup file then and set audio sound

Actually just realised the ā€œretropieā€ menu item in Emulation Station is not there. hmmmmm. Neither is the retro pie setup script. Ill add these manually (hopefully) and report back

After creating shortcut for RetroPie, ā€œRecent moviesā€ and ā€œRecent TV seriesā€ donā€™t display anymore on main OSMC screen.

I have Retropie installwed with the old script. It have Quake, and emulators (not only reetroarch, I think).

If I do a new install, can I reproduce this installation with the new script? It is, the script installs quake and other emulators at this time?
