Install autofs - would it survive OS update?

A question,
I have nfs in my house and I like to use autofs (also known as auto.master).
I can activate it and configure it.

I would like to use it to store backups

Yes. It does here. The only issue I have is I fairly often have to restart it or even restart nfs-server on the server. But Iā€™m forever stopping and starting boxes for testing.
