Is OSMC just a customised debian distro with a specialised kodi install?

Hey,

I don’t know much about the linux world. I’m wondering is osmc built on top of a full debian distro with a customised version of kodi on it that it boots into on startup?

I’m thinking of installing some other software like sickbeard onto it, can I do that with the regular osmc install? Or do I need to install kodi onto something like raspbian?

I’m not sure if this is the right place for posting this! Thanks for the help.

You should be able to install Sickbeard just fine. I believe there is even a tutorial on this.

As outlined in the Wiki you have 40,000+ packages available via apt-get as well as our App Store.
