While I appreciate all the hard work of the developers on OSMC project, the latest Kodi 15.2 based update has rendered by Pi version B2 completely unusable. 1080p mkv ac3 5.1 videos use to play jerk and pause free from my Samba share over the wired network. Now all jerk and pause … some time as bad as 15 seconds. What is going on here? how do I rollback, as this update is unworthy of daily use Pi needs.
Are you on the latest version?
Yes, just did a apt-get upgrade and it did not find any updates. this all started after I applied the last update when the automatic update prompted to apply.
What version are you on?
From System info Summary screen:
Operating System: Open Source Media Center 2015.09-2
Compiled: Sep 28 2015
You will need to upload a debug log so we can see what’s going on here
Sam
You must use dist-upgrade.
And if you don’t run update first dist-upgrade won’t find anything new. So you should always run:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Thanks, I am on latest build; apt-get update / dist-upgrade does not find anything.
Will try to upload debug log.
Ok, so here’s what fixed it. Some how the video resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p) shows 56.9 hz refresh rate. this is odd as it use to be 60 hz before. If I change refresh rate to 60, the resolution switches to “Desktop”. so with this setting… all jerkiness is gone. video is playing smooth.
Not sure why all of a sudden my Pi is not liking 1920x1080 with 60 hz refresh rate.
Does anyone know what is the resolution details of “Desktop” ?
The Desktop resolution means that Kodi will use the resolution that was configured at boot. This is in turn derived from the EDID, unless you specify an hdmi_mode. Leaving at desktop is fine. You may want to enable adjust refresh rate however
