Having experienced repeatable crashes/reboots when I tried to navigate to a folder full of photos, I noticed top showing lircd chewing up half of ATV1’s memory:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
1656 osmc 20 0 463036 119292 31620 S 4.6 48.7 65:51.59 /usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin --standalone -fs --lircdev /var/run/lirc/lircd
I can’t recall noticing this before. I reinstalled:
This is not lircd, but kodi using the memory.
Not totally unespected. You can try to do a clean reinstall but depending on addons and library size the device might be just not powerful enough
Yes, it is the kodi binary eating up 50% of memory and the resource limits of this hardware is probably the cause of the problem. I’m sure the memory usage goes up when I press the remote, but this is not probably related to the problem I’ve been experiencing. I’d rather I didn’t reinstall from scratch. I reinstalled atv-mediacenter-osmc and it is still using more than 50%.
