Not sure if I’m hijacking this thread, but my Vero 4k just failed again after a fresh reinstall.
I can log in via SSH, though.

The main menu appears for a second before a sad smiley comes and it flashes to black, comes back to the menue for a second and repeats
I’ve moved your post to a new thread since your problem is unrelated to the previous thread.
To repeat what Sam said, please rename /home/ismc/.kodi to /home/osmc/kodi-backup and reboot the Vero4K.
If the problem remains, I’d suggest you reinstall mediacenter:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall vero3-mediacenter-osmc
