Kodi/OSMC crashing, no crash screen, no auto-reboot, no red light

Hi Karl,

That’s strange. You could try check the ‘My Posts’ option which will show your drafts.

I have checked your logs.

I don’t see a crash from your logs. Keep in mind that these logs don’t persist across reboots, with the exception of kodi.log

Sam

Ok, what would you like me to do, to collect more information for you?

If the device crashes again and Kodi comes back up, please upload a log.

Otherwise without the logs I think your best bet is to re-install OSMC.

Sam

Hi Sam

The behaviour of the crash is that it never recovers until rebooting. It is lost off the network and does not display any output on the hdmi port.

Is there some other type of more detailed or persistent logging I can enable for you? Perhaps to an external syslog server?

Ok, to confirm, you want me to reinstall osmc?

Karl

Yes, I would suggest a reinstallation.

Did you in the meantime tried your 2nd power supply?

I was using the original power supply up until just now; as of now I am using the power supply from my second Vero4k+ (this one normally sits unused as I no longer have a routine need for my second Vero4k+).

Let’s see if it faults again.

I have not yet reinstalled osmc.

Hello everyone,

I have been using the second power supply for 1.5 months now and the Vero4k+ has been totally stable. There have been zero crashes.

I remember some years ago I read a post from Sam to someone and their power supply had failed. I think you said it was rare but does happen. At the moment, the evidence seems to show my power supply was upset and so I will organise a replacement. I will keep using my second power supply for the time being (because my second Vero4k+ is only needed when I travel).

I did not reintstall OSMC as Sam suggested, because the power supply was easier to test.

Thanks for the suggestion, fzinken.

I started using the second power supply on 31/07/2024 and today is 15/11/2024. I have had no re-occurrences of the fault I described in this ticket.

I suggest the power supply I was using has become defective

Great (that it’s solved).
