While playing Sleeping Hollow video, Kodi plays the video file, but no video. Only audio,

That exceeds BD spec (5 ReFrames).

CrystalHD would probably choke on that, even if you did get video.

Noted with thanks. Do u know of ANY good converter that can reduce the ReFrames?

The number of reframes can be passed to x264 as an encoding option. I believe Handbrake would let you do this.

Sam, However, i hv another mkv file with 12 ReFrames and Kodi plays the video file OK!

Yes but it will be hit and miss.

CrystalHD will only play up to L4.1 officially.

Getting similar problems. Blank screens and stuttering on ‘larger’ files H264. 720-1080 over 1 Gb …
Also getting a lot of crashes on those files. and a long time to actually get to that point. 5-10 seconds.

Not sure what the issue is as my GF old G5 is able to play the file fine.

Without logs and mediainfo on the file we can offer no assistance.

Hi Thanks for the help.

The real problem just now after update is the screen is going black after a few seconds
I switch it ‘off’ with the remote. it comes back and then goes to black screen 5-10 seconds again. TV says there is a signal but black.

You have not enabled debug logging as is instructed in the link. Not much to see here without it.

Is there any chance that HDMI needs reseting? How do I do that on AppleTV1?

No. it’s not the HDMI issue. It’s with the video played on ATV1.

That’s bcoz the video needs more computing power from the ATV1 + GPU card can provide.

Hence, to overcome this issue, we need to convert the video file to a lower requirement so that ATV1 can play the video.

Use HandBrake to convert the video file.

But it’s not just when it plays video files it on the UI as well.
Basically when it is doing nothing.
