Hi,
I just burned a fresh OSMC from the latest image on an SD card that has been running LibreElec for years. It burns the SD card correctly, but it fails to install after the timer.
It says “Install failed: can’t mount root”.

Do you have another card handy to test?
Sam
Yeah, i’ll try … i’ve formatted it and i’ll test libreelec again, just to make sure the card is ok and boots first.
is there a way i can get some debug output from your installer? since that is what fails.
Just because libreelec works doesnt necessarily mean the card is ok. OSMC might take up more space than LE and then hitting a bad section on the card.
Best is to try another card. Otherwise try a tool like H2testw to do full read/write test on the card.
Warning: Only 7550 of 7577 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 13.0 MByte/s
Reading speed: 42.8 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
Works perfectly.
So how do we figure out why OSMC fails to do a simple install?
Have you tried another card?
