Listen to a MIXLR broadcast?

There is something I would like to listen to tonight, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that in OSMC. MIXLR say they are providing a 128kb IceCast compatible stream, but no matter how I look at their webpage (for example https://mixlr.com/knik) I cannot figure out the actual link. I tried installing the IceCast addon but that just crashes with Error getting plugin://plugin.audio.icecast/. Any ideas?

Well sounds like the station that want to broadcast the stream needs a pro licence and then need to share the URL

Sure, but the stream URL should be there in the page anyway. If not then my web brower would not be able to play it.

They embedded a JS player, not a URL to the stream to listen to. You’d need to contact them to find out what the actual stream URL is.

OK. Will do so.

I had a look at the icecast plug-in. It seems it gets a list of stations from dir.xiph.org/yp.xml. On my connection, that page takes a while to load into a browser. The message in the Kodi log however is a 404, so not sure what’s happening there.

Anyway, that’s maybe not going to get you far - I couldn’t find any urls there with mixlr in them.

If you can find the url, then you need to create a .strm file or maybe a .m3u (mixlr streams mp3).
See https://kodi.wiki/view/Internet_video_and_audio_streams.

Let us know how you get on.

Yes. I will ask them fro an URL and whether that programme is available aftre the fact. I litened for a while on my PC but then I got cut off after 1.5hr

I couldn’t get any of those mixlr streams to play through kodi. Reached the limit of my (limited) knowledge.

Odd… Perhaps I should send them an email?

An icecast server has a mountpoint for each stream, usually accessed as something like http://server:8000/mountpoint.mpg

Obviously mixlr are wrapping that with some javascript so they can pay the bills. So it’s by no means certain you will get a url that allows kodi to listen in.

As for whether the programme might be available later, seems to me mixlr is just a live streaming platform. You would have to ask the station if they have an on-demand stream.

They have a link to past programmes: https://www.mixlr.com/radiofredagse/showreel
Today’s Episode is there. Let me see if I can crack it tomorrow.

OK. The site seems to offer downloads but I couldn’t get that to work.

BTW, that icecast plug-in seems to be abandonware. It doesn’t work on PC either. The Radio plug-in works nicely, but it doesn’t offer mixlr or radiofredag in its listings.

OK. Will probably not get an answer from them until Monday, but if ICECast is supposed to work, then I could possibly take a look at the pluigin.
