Live TV Stuttering at beginning playing each channel using omxplayer

Using omxplayer each time play tv channel there is a few seconds stuttering then channel plays fine.

Not an issue with mmal but i prefer omxplayer as it runs better with the GUI.

Sad to see omxplayer being dropped for v19. Its a smooth player all round.

OMXPlayer is now end of life. MMAL will also soon be deprecated in Kodi, so this is likely end of life.

So what player will raspberry pi use when mmal is also dropped?

Is it called videoplayer? I thought mmal was a part of that.

What’s the reason mmal is affected by the GUI while omxplayer is not?

V4L2/GBM which will interface with MMAL.

I don’t know – I’d suspect that OMXPlayer is winding down on discontinuities and waiting for an IDR.
